Job Summary
Accurately prepare, administer, and document medications as prescribed, immediately reporting any errors to the Charge Nurse or Director of Nursing. Take and record vital signs, count and sign medication administration records for controlled drugs, and safely lift, move, and transfer residents weighing up to 150 pounds. Observe residents for unusual conditions, promptly clean up excretions and safety hazards, and utilize electronic medical record charting via point-click care. Participate in emergency drills, fire evacuations, and in-service training while adhering to universal safety precautions and wearing necessary personal protective equipment. Maintain regular attendance in accordance with facility policies.
Required Qualifications
- current Certified Medication Aide Certification in Texas
- good standing on Nurse Aide Registry and the Misconduct Registry
- current Certified Nurse Aide certification in Texas
- Ability to understand, remember and carry out oral and written instructions in English
- Ability to speak clearly and hear well enough to communicate with residents
- Have the ability to safely perform movements such as pushing, pulling, lifting, bending, kneeling, reaching, and lifting up to 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodations
- Must be capable of maintaining regular attendance in accordance with facility absence policies
- ability to safely ascend and descend stairwells
- ability to tolerate wearing necessary personal protective equipment
- willingness and ability to wear, tolerate and use protective clothing and equipment needed in the carrying out of duties
