Job Summary
Prepare, administer, and document prescribed medications per protocol, including setting up drugs, applying ophthalmic, otic, nasal, and vaginal medications, and administering oxygen in emergencies. Take and record vital signs prior to administration, observe and report resident reactions or side effects to the charge nurse, and document reasons for non-administration. Assist with customary daily care tasks such as bathing, feeding, dressing, and transferring residents while maintaining cleanliness of the nursing and medication rooms.
Required Qualifications
- Successful completion of State Approved Medication Aide Training and Competency Evaluation Program
- Good standing in the state registry
- Must demonstrate working knowledge of Universal Precautions and the Blood Borne Pathogen rules
- Must be able to lift 1-25 lbs
- Must be able to lift 25-50 lbs
- Must be able to lift 50+ lbs
- Must be able to carry 1-25 lbs
- Must be able to carry 25-50 lbs
