Job Summary
Prepare, administer, and document prescribed medications per protocol, including setting up drugs, applying ophthalmic, otic, nasal, and vaginal medications, and administering oxygen in emergencies. Observe and report resident reactions and side effects, take vital signs prior to administration, and document reasons for non-administration. Assist with daily care tasks such as bathing, feeding, dressing, and transferring residents while maintaining cleanliness of the nursing and supply rooms. Notify licensed nurses immediately after emergency oxygen administration and ensure accurate documentation in the medication administration record.
Required Qualifications
- Successful completion of State Approved Medication Aide Training and Competency Evaluation Program
- Good standing in the state registry
- Must demonstrate working knowledge of Universal Precautions and the Blood Borne Pathogen rules
- Must be able to lift 1-25 lbs
- Must be able to lift 25-50 lbs
- Must be able to lift 50+ lbs
- Must be able to carry 1-25 lbs
