Job Summary
Prepare, administer, and document prescribed medications per protocol and state regulations. Take and record vital signs prior to administration, observe and report reactions or side effects to the charge nurse, and document reasons drugs are not administered. Administer oxygen in emergencies and notify the licensed nurse on duty. Apply ophthalmic, otic, nasal, and vaginal medications. Assist with daily resident care tasks including bathing, feeding, dressing, and transferring residents. Maintain cleanliness of the nursing station and medication rooms. Requires State Approved Medication Aide Training and Competency Evaluation Program completion, one year of healthcare experience preferred, and ability to lift up to 50+ lbs.
Required Qualifications
- Successful completion of State Approved Medication Aide Training and Competency Evaluation Program
- Good standing in the state registry
- Must demonstrate working knowledge of Universal Precautions and the Blood Borne Pathogen rules
- Must be able to lift 1-25 lbs
