Job Summary
Certified Medication Aide will administer prescribed medications per protocol, monitor residents for reactions, document in the medication administration record, and assist with daily care tasks. Responsibilities include taking vital signs as needed, reporting to the charge nurse, preparing medications, administering oxygen in emergencies, and applying ophthalmic, OTIC, nasal, and vaginal medications. Requires state-approved Medication Aide training and competency evaluation, and good standing in the state registry. Preferred one year healthcare experience; HS diploma or equivalent is acceptable. Includes physical tasks such as lifting, transferring residents, and maintaining medication areas and documentation.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Successful completion of State Approved Medication Aide Training and Competency Evaluation Program
- Good standing in the state registry
- One year of health care experience preferred
- Knowledge of Universal Precautions and Blood Borne Pathogens
- Ability to lift and transfer residents as part of care duties
