Job Summary
Administer oral and topical medications to patients/residents as ordered by a physician under the supervision of a licensed nurse, adhering to state, federal, and facility policies. Take and record vital signs, document medication administration and responses, and report adverse reactions or side effects. Observe for and document reactions to PRN medications, dispense narcotics with proper accounting, and secure medication carts and refrigerators. Ensure medication rooms remain clean and organized, remove expired medications for destruction, and conduct observation rounds. Supervise nursing assistants and orderlies as assigned, attend quality assurance meetings, and enforce abuse prevention policies to assure patient safety.
Required Qualifications
- State certification as a Nursing Assistant
- State approved medication administration certification
- Ability to read, write, and speak the English language
- Ability to function as a Team Leader/Role Model
- Has reviewed Cantex Continuing Care Networks Clinical Policies and Procedures for Abuse Prevention and knows the employee's responsibility to enforce it
- Responsible for assuring patient/resident safety
