Job Summary
The Certified Medical Coder is responsible for accurate selection of ICD-10, CPT, modifier(s), and HCPCS codes based on medical record documentation for various medical services in a high-volume environment. Key responsibilities include reviewing clinical documentation, coding conditions and procedures in accordance with official coding guidelines, identifying improvement opportunities in coding and documentation, and assisting with coding inquiries. Candidates should possess a high school diploma and relevant experience, with preference given to those holding an Associate's degree and a Certified Professional Coder credential.
Required Qualifications
- Certified Professional Coder (CPC) through AAPC
- Minimum of 3 years coding experience
- Awareness and compliance with HIPAA regulations
- High school diploma required
- Associates degree preferred
Desired Qualifications
- 3 years coding experience in Cardiology
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Excellent organizational skills
