Job Summary
Abstract patient records to assign correct ICD, CPT, and HCPCS codes, ensuring proper APC or DRG groupings. Conduct regular chart audits and proactively query physicians to clarify ambiguous documentation while strictly adhering to official coding guidelines, reimbursement requirements, and AHIMA Standards of Ethical Coding. Maintain established productivity and quality rates while staying current on evolving coding policies and regulations. Work full-time day shifts from 6 AM to 6 PM Central Time, Monday through Friday, with no weekends or major holidays.
Required Qualifications
- Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) credentialed from the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date
- Certified Professional Coder (CPC) credentialed from the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date
- Coder specializing in Cardiac credentialed from the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date
- Reg Health Info Admnstr credentialed from the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date
- Reg Health Info Tech credentialed from the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date
- High School diploma equivalency OR 1 year of applicable cumulative job specific experience
- 40 hours a week
- M-F
- Hours between 6 AM - 6 PM Central Time Zone
- No weekends or major holidays
