Job Summary
Greet and welcome patients in a culturally and linguistically appropriate manner, answering questions positively and ensuring clear understanding of all communications. Prepare patients for examination and treatment, taking histories and vital signs while administering injections within Texas scope of practice. Administer injections within Texas' Certified/Registered Medical Assistant scope of practice, collect and process biological specimens for analysis, and assist providers with requested duties. Document patient histories and vital signs, review pre-visit charts for health indicators, and ensure records are current and complete while adhering to HIPAA regulations. Participate in team huddles to communicate workload and patient flow needs, assist in orienting new employees, and interpret for providers when necessary using approved translation services. Maintain a safe environment by responding to emergencies, refraining from cell phone use on duty, and complying with infection control requirements. This role requires bilingual English/Spanish proficiency, current CMA certification, and BLS/ CPR training. Travel is required, and employees must provide their own transportation with a valid Texas driver's license and liability insurance. Extended hours and cross-departmental assignments may be necessary to ensure adequate patient care.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program
- Minimum of 1 year medical assistant work experience in a hospital or medical clinic setting
- Current certification as a registered or certified medical assistant
- Must be computer literate
- Current with Basic Life Support/Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation
- Bilingual (English/Spanish)
- Current valid Texas driver's license for the appropriate type of vehicle
- Texas Liability insurance
- Verified driving record with law enforcement
- Ability to bend, stretch, stoop, stand, sit, and lift 25 lbs
- Ability to perform patient transfers using appropriate and safe body mechanic techniques
- Ability to maintain a flexible work schedule
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment
- Ability to interpret and translate for the provider when necessary utilizing the approved translation service when indicated
- Ability to fully comply with Su Clinica's enhanced infection control requirements
- Initial N95 mask fit testing
- Annual test fitting thereafter
