Job Summary
Assess patient physical, psychosocial, cultural, and spiritual needs through observation, interviews, and medical record reviews to report findings to providers. Perform clinical tasks including vital signs, mini treatments, prevention services, previsit planning, medication refills, and post-visit follow-up to ensure efficient patient flow. Contribute to patient care plans by identifying barriers to self-management and provide education using motivational interviewing and teach-back methodology. Mentor new staff or medical assistant students as needed. Maintain accurate chart documentation while participating in professional development and potentially assisting with front office duties.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma/G.E.D.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association
- Nationally Certified as a Certified Medical Assistant, Certified Clinical Medical Assistant or Registered Medical Assistant by one of the following: AAMA, AMT, ARMA, NAHP, NHA or NCCT
- Successful completion of all Medical Assistant Core Skills, as well as additional competencies which are specialty specific, as defined within the Scope of Practice for Medical Assistants
Desired Qualifications
- Completion of Medical Assisting Program/Trade/Technical School
- Completion of EMT Program/Trade/Technical School
