Job Summary
Medical Assistant role in Urology at Wellstar focuses on patient-centered clinical and administrative support in a fast-paced practice. Responsibilities include gathering and recording vital signs, preparing patients for exams, assisting during treatments, coordinating tests and follow-up care, documenting in the medical record, and supporting front and back-office operations. The MA works under the supervision of the Nurse Supervisor or Practice/Office Manager, collaborates with providers and staff to ensure patient safety and satisfaction, participates in huddles and quality initiatives, and may precept new team members. Required credentials include CMA-related certifications and current BLS; education requires a high school diploma or GED. The position emphasizes compassion, teamwork, accuracy, and efficient patient care delivery in a Georgia-based outpatient/urology setting.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or General Educational Development (GED) required
- Current certification from one of CMA/named credentialing bodies: AAMA (CMA), AMT (RMA), NHA (CCMA), NCCT (NCMA), NAHP (NRCMA)
- BLS - Basic Life Support (American Heart Association) or ARC-BLS (American Red Cross) or BLS-I (Instructor)
- CMA - Certified Medical Assistant or related credential (MEDCA, NCMA, RMA, CCMA) per stated bodies
- Required to maintain current certification upon hire
- Ability to read, write and speak English; basic computer skills
- Ability to engage in teamwork and maintain positive working relationships
- Willingness to support both clinical and administrative duties as part of MA role
- Experience in physician practice setting preferred
