Job Summary
The Certified Medical Assistant - Urgent Care provides direct and indirect patient care under supervision in an Urgent Care setting. Responsibilities include performing vital signs (BP, pulse, respirations, height/weight, temperature), documenting patient information, assisting with examinations, administering medications (orally/injections/topically), collecting specimens, and ensuring readiness of examination rooms. The role may involve travel to other facilities to support providers and adjust hours to meet patient care needs. Requires high school diploma or GED and completion of an accredited MA program (with MA certification from CMA/RMA/CCMA/NCMA/NCCT preferred). Strong clinical and administrative skills, excellent communication, and ability to work in a high-volume environment are essential.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED (required)
- Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant post-secondary education program (preferred in all states except South Carolina)
- Active Medical Assisting certification from CMA/RMA/CCMA/NCMA/NCCT (or ABR-OE acceptable in some cases)
- BC/BSL certification (required at hire for some locations)
- 1 year of recent Medical Assisting experience (preferred)
- Strong clinical skills: vitals, injections, specimen collection, medication administration
- Ability to document patient information and assist with examinations
- Good communication and teamwork in a high-volume environment
- Attention to detail and ability to multitask
