Job Summary

Assess and provide direct care to patients aged 0 to 18 and adults in the patient care area using developmentally appropriate methods. Collect and document vital signs, BMI, height/weight, and visit reasons with 100% accuracy while updating records on prior care, medications, and allergies. Prepare patients for examinations and assist providers during treatments, testing, and medication administration including immunizations. Support self-management through patient education and utilize equipment for biophysical, psychosocial, and environmental data collection. Complete and document all treatments and interventions within the scope of practice.

Required Qualifications

  • H.S. Diploma or GED
  • BLS -Cert-Basic Life Support from American Heart Association
  • Fundamental knowledge of pediatric assessment and treatment
  • One of the national certification/registrations: CCMA: Certified Clinical Medical Assistant – National Health Career Association (NHA)
  • One of the national certification/registrations: CMA-AAMA: Certified Medical Assistant – American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA)
  • One of the national certification/registrations: CMA-C: Clinical Medical Assistant Certification – American Medical Certification Association (AMCA)
  • One of the national certification/registrations: NCMA: National Certified Medical Assistant – National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT)
  • One of the national certification/registrations: NRCMA: National Registered Certified Medical Assistant – National Association of Health Professionals (NAHP)
  • One of the national certification/registrations: RMA-AAH: Registered Medical Assistant – American Allied Health
  • One of the national certification/registrations: RMA-AAMP: Registered Medical Assistant – American Association of Medical Personnel
  • One of the national certification/registrations: RMA-AMT: Registered Medical Assistant – American Medical Technologist
  • One of the national certification/registrations: RMA-ARMA: Registered Medical Assistant – American Registry of Medical Assistants
  • EMT: Emergency Medical Technician – Texas Department of State Health Services
  • EMT-A: Advanced Emergency Medical Technician – Texas Department of State Health Services
  • EMT-B: Emergency Medical Technician-Basic – Texas Department of State Health Services
  • EMT-I: Emergency Medical Technician-Intermediate – Texas Department of State Health Services
  • EMT-P: Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic – Texas Department of State Health Services
  • LIC PAR: Licensed Paramedic – Texas Department of State Health Services
  • Graduation from a medical assistant or emergency medical technician program or documentation from the licensing authority confirming that medical assistant/emergency medical technician education is not a requirement for certification
  • Ability to use a thermometer, scales, sphygmomanometer/stethoscope, butterfly needles, hearing/vision screening equipment, pulse oximetry, tympanometry, basic laboratory equipment, i.e., microscope, centrifuge, hematology analyzer, and specimen collection

Desired Qualifications

  • 1-year related experience preferred
