Job Summary
The Psychiatric Certified Medical Assistant (PCMA) at Native Health supports psychiatric providers and helps ensure efficient clinic operations. Responsibilities include rooming patients, preparing them for appointments, and performing back-office clinical duties such as collecting baseline data (vital signs), maintaining accurate medical records, and assisting with provider caseloads. Under supervision of the Behavioral Health Coordinator and a psychiatric provider, the PCMA delivers team-based, patient-centered care, reinforces discharge instructions, administers medications under supervision, and supports the clinic’s mission and policies. Key skills include excellent communication and customer service, familiarity with medical terminology and HIPAA compliance, proficiency with electronic health records, infection control, and the ability to work collaboratively with clinical staff in an outpatient family-practice setting.
Required Qualifications
- Certification as CMA, RMA, NCMA, or CCMA
- Two years of experience as an MA in a family practice outpatient setting
- High school diploma or GED
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and patient privacy
- Ability to administer medications under supervision
- Proficiency with electronic health records (EHR)
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Bilingual Spanish/English preferred
Additional Requirements
- Must possess valid Arizona driver’s license (or requirement to obtain within 30 days if from out of state)
- Criminal background check and fingerprint clearance required
- Must pass substance abuse testing
- TB skin test record required
- Immunization record required
- BLS certification within 90 days of employment
