Job Summary
The CMA will support both clinical and clerical operations at the health and wellness center under provider and Clinical Operations Manager guidance. Responsibilities include patient interviews, measuring vital signs (pulse, temp, BP, weight, height, BMI), performing clinical procedures (injections, EKG, urinalysis, capillary blood draws, tests like Cholestech, glucometer; venous draws; AED use) and preparing treatment rooms. Clerical duties include front-desk check-in, phones triage, scheduling, compliance reporting, record management, inventory, and coordinating referrals. Requires MA program graduation or equivalent clinical experience or certification, HID/ HIPAA awareness, BLS, and proficiency with EMR/EHR systems; strong communication and ability to engage with patients from diverse backgrounds.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Graduation from an accredited Medical Assisting program OR twelve months of direct clinical patient care experience in a healthcare setting OR current Medical Assistant certification
- Active and unrevoked certification such as RMA, CCMA, CMA, NCMA, or NCRMA certification is preferred
- Current BLS certification through American Heart Association valid for at least 90 days after start date
- Knowledge of HIPAA confidentiality requirements
- Knowledge of Internet software, Spreadsheet software, Word Processing software, and Electronic medical records
- Ability to communicate effectively and maintain working relationships with people from diverse backgrounds
- Ability to prioritize needs and plan work accordingly
