Job Summary
Assist physicians, nurses, and providers with direct and indirect patient care, laboratory procedures, and medical record management. Organize the nursing station, proofread dictation, and schedule appointments efficiently. Answer phones, open mail, order supplies using cost containment methods, and stock exam rooms while adhering to infection control policies. Interview patients to determine chief complaints, take vital signs, and document results. Perform office procedures such as sterile urine catheterization and suture removal under provider direction. Administer oral, subcutaneous, and allergy injections as directed, order diagnostic tests, and provide patient education and home care instructions. Call in prescriptions, perform insurance pre-certifications, and ensure compliance with clinic policies, OSHA standards, and HIPAA privacy requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited medical assisting program
- Must be a registered or certified Medical Assistant through one of the following: American Med Techs (AMT), American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT), National Health Career Association (NHA), American Allied Health (AAH), or National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP)
- CPR certification per American Heart Association guidelines
