Job Summary
Assist providers with direct patient care, including vital signs, patient histories, and clinical procedures. Administer medications as ordered and perform venipuncture, EKGs, IV starts, and other diagnostic procedures. Document care accurately in the electronic health record and maintain organized patient records. Provide patient education, discharge instructions, and assist with coordination of referrals and follow-up care. Monitor patients for clinical changes and report concerns to the provider promptly. Maintain medical equipment, ensure exam rooms are properly stocked, and uphold infection control standards. Communicate professionally with patients, staff, and external contacts while ensuring compliance with OSHA, HIPAA, and regulatory requirements. Support quality improvement initiatives and promote the Patient-Centered Medical Home. Requires CPR/BLS certification and one year of outpatient experience.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program
- Certification through AAMA, AMT, or NCCT
- Current CPR/BLS certification
- Additional training in phlebotomy, EKGs, pharmacology, and diagnostic testing
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience in an outpatient, primary care, or ambulatory care setting
- Experience performing clinical skills such as vital signs, phlebotomy, EKGs, injections, medication administration, and specimen collection
- Experience using electronic health record systems and standard office software
- Experience working with diverse patient populations and collaborating within a multidisciplinary care team
- Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 30 pounds
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions
- Flexibility with occasional extended hours or travel between clinic sites
Desired Qualifications
- Certification through AAMA, AMT, or NCCT
