Job Summary
Support the patient and provider throughout the visit by ensuring both are prepared and that patient questions are answered prior to departure. Provide excellent patient service through effective communication over the phone and in person while accessing data systems to document pertinent medical information and complete patient registration. Maintain required clinical knowledge and technical skills through professional development and adapt behavior to the specific patient population with respect for privacy. Comply with all policies, standards, and federal, state, and local laws, including Department of Transportation drug and alcohol testing procedures if applicable.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma/GED
- Experience working with and maintaining confidential information
- Experience working in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision
- Medical Assistant Certification
- Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association
- Clinical knowledge
- Proficiency in using computers, software, and web-based applications
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals throughout the patient care process
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
- Ability to lift 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally
- Ability to lift 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently
- Ability to lift greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly
- Ability to work in an area where patients enter
- Ability to work directly with patients
- Ability to work with specimens that could contain communicable diseases
- Ability to comply with all policies and standards
- Ability to remain knowledgeable on current federal, state and local laws, accreditation standards or regulatory agency requirements
- Ability to ensure compliance with all such laws, regulations and standards
- Ability to report any known or suspected unethical or questionable behaviors or conduct
- Ability to ensure patient/employee safety
- Ability to ensure patient privacy
- Ability to ensure compliance with all such laws, regulations and standards
- Ability to work in a patient care area

- Ability to handle occupational risk for exposure to hazardous waste
- Ability to handle receipt, transport, storage, preparation, dispensing, administration, cleaning and/or disposal of contaminated waste
- Ability to reside in and work from Louisiana (excluding Colorado, California, Hawaii, Illinois, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, Vermont, Washington, and Washington D.C.)
Desired Qualifications
- Completion of a formal medical assistant training program
