Job Summary
Conduct quality patient care under physician direction by rooming patients, taking vitals, documenting in electronic records, and administering injections and minor procedures. Maintain and calibrate clinical equipment per OSHA and DHEC standards, while ensuring exam room cleanliness and supply availability. Screen patients for appointments, triage calls, and instruct patients on treatment, medication, and sample collection. Monitor and distribute prescribed medications including controlled substances, and report patient conditions and reactions to the physician. Assist with exams and procedures as ordered, ensuring timely patient flow and accurate record maintenance.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of an accredited medical assisting program
- One year of patient care experience
- Certification as a Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA), Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP), or National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) through American Medical Technologist (AMT), American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), or National Health career Association (NHA)
- Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or American Red Cross BLS for Healthcare Providers certification
- Graduate from an accredited Practical Nurse program
- Licensed as an LPN within the state of South Carolina or a compact state
- Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or American Red Cross BLS for Healthcare Providers certification
- Ability to perform job functions while standing, walking and sitting
- Ability to bend at the waist, kneel, climb stairs, reach in all directions, fully use both hands and legs, possess good finger dexterity, perform repetitive motions with hands/wrists/elbows and shoulders, reach in all directions
- Ability to be qualified physically for respirator use, initially and as required
- Maintain 20/40 vision corrected
- Ability to see and recognize objects close at hand and at a distance
- Ability to work in a latex safe environment
- Ability to work indoors
- Ability to frequently lift, lower, push and pull and/or carry objects weighing 50 lbs (+/-) unassisted
- Ability to exert up to 50 lbs of force
- Ability to lift from 36" to overhead 25 lbs
- Ability to infrequently work in dusty areas and confined/cramped spaces
- Ability to effectively lead and coach others
