Job Summary
Support the patient and provider throughout the patient visit by ensuring both are prepared, answering questions prior to departure, and preparing rooms for the next appointment. Deliver excellent patient service through effective communication over the phone and in person while completing appropriate documentation, including patient registration if necessary. Maintain clinical knowledge, technical skills, and credentials through personal professional development and adapt behavior to specific patient populations regarding privacy and procedure explanations. Perform other duties as assigned while complying with all policies, standards, and workplace drug and alcohol testing programs if working in an occupational health clinic.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma/GED
- Experience working with and maintaining confidential information
- Experience working in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision
- Medical Assistant Certification
- Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association
- Clinical knowledge
- Proficiency in using computers, software, and web-based applications
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals throughout the patient care process
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
- Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects
- Exposure to blood, body fluid and tissue
- Occupational risk for exposure to all communicable diseases
- Occupational risk for exposure to hazardous medications or hazardous waste
Desired Qualifications
- Completion of a formal medical assistant training program
