Job Summary
Greet patients, escort them to exam rooms, and prepare them for treatment while taking vital signs and performing spirometry and allergy testing as ordered. Assist physicians with assessments, administer medications and injections per physician orders, and monitor patients for adverse reactions. Prepare and sterilize supplies, maintain emergency equipment, and complete clinical documentation and prescription calls. Handle patient telephone inquiries, follow up on referrals and insurance authorizations, and manage clinical supply stock. Maintain patient confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA and attend required training programs.
Required Qualifications
- High school degree
- CMA certificate
- At least one year of experience in clinical assisting
- Comfortable using email and interacting with Internet applications
- Knowledge of practice management and word processing software
- Good communication skills
- Neat, professional appearance
- Attends CPR, OSHA, HIPAA, and OIG training programs
- Attends all regular meetings
- Maintains patient confidentiality; complies with HIPAA and compliance guidelines established by the practice
- Maintains detailed knowledge of practice management and other computer software as it relates to job functions
