Job Summary
Provides patient care in a physician office setting, assists physicians and staff in coordinating patient care, and serves as a liaison between patients, families, staff, and providers. Performs CLIA-waived tests, electrocardiography, respiratory testing, and phlebotomy including venipuncture and capillary puncture; administers oral and parenteral medications and immunizations as directed; calls prescriptions to pharmacies; documents patient communications and clinical treatments; prepares patient information packets; and supports exam/treatment rooms and infection control per protocols.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Certified Medical Assistant through appropriate board (e.g., American Association of Medical Assistants) or registered through appropriate board (e.g., American Registry of Medical Assistants)
- CPR certification or obtain within 30 days of employment
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology
- Understanding of laboratory techniques
- Knowledge of clinical and diagnostic procedures
- Pharmacology knowledge and ability to administer medication
- Knowledge of office practices, patient relations, and medical law and ethics
- Demonstrated understanding of coding and reimbursement systems including ICD and CPT
