Job Summary
Provides patient care in a physician office setting and acts as a primary liaison between patients, families, staff and providers. Assists physicians with examinations and procedures, schedules diagnostic tests and pre-admission testing, performs CLIA-waived tests, electrocardiography, respiratory testing, and phlebotomy (venipuncture/capillary puncture). Administers oral and parenteral medications and immunizations, calls prescriptions to pharmacies, maintains exam/treatment rooms, collects and processes specimens, documents patient communications and treatments, and supports infection-control and safety protocols. Requires high school diploma or equivalent and CMA certification or board registration, CPR certification, and knowledge of medical terminology, ICD/CPT, and office practices.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Certified Medical Assistant through board or registered through board
- CPR certification or obtainable within 30 days of employment
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology
- Understanding of laboratory techniques
- Knowledge of ICD and CPT coding
- Ability to administer medications and immunizations
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
