Job Summary
Register patients, collect demographic and insurance information, and process co-pays while managing front desk duties and phone communications. Obtain medical histories, document accurately, and measure vital signs including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, height, and weight. Perform point-of-care testing such as flu and EKG, draw blood, and prepare specimens for laboratory analysis. Prepare and clean exam rooms, monitor inventory, and conduct equipment checks and quality control. Complete opening and closing duties, handle cash, and perform end-of-day reconciliation. Work 8:00 AM to 10:00 PM shifts supporting Inova-GoHealth Urgent Care's mission to deliver compassionate, connected care across Northern Virginia.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of 1 year of Medical Assistant experience
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification obtained through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC)
- CPOE (Computerized Provider Order Entry) certification obtained within 2 weeks of start date
- Availability to work between the hours of 8:00 AM – 10:00 PM, including a combination of the following shifts based on business needs: 8:00 AM – 8:00 PM, 10:00 AM – 10:00 PM, 8:00 AM – 10:00 PM
Desired Qualifications
- Graduate of a Medical Assisting program
- Experience in urgent care, emergency department, or hospital setting
- Prior experience with patient registration or front desk responsibilities
- 3+ years of Medical Assistant experience
- 1+ year of experience in an urgent care, emergency department, or hospital setting
- Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Registered Nurse (RN)
- Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) or Paramedic
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)
- CCMA – Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (NHA)
- CMA – Certified Medical Assistant (AAMA or CHP)
- RMA – Registered Medical Assistant (AMT, AAH or ARMA)
- NCMA – National Certified Medical Assistant (NCCT)
- NRCMA – Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant (NAHP)
