Job Summary
Conduct patient registration, verify insurance eligibility, and process co-pays while scheduling appointments and coordinating specialist referrals. Perform preliminary physical tests including vital signs and point-of-care testing for flu, strep, and urinalysis, escalating critical cases to providers. Prepare examination rooms, manage supply inventory, and maintain medical records and equipment logs. Handle front desk duties such as answering calls, sorting correspondence, and performing opening and closing procedures. Hourly rate: $23.00–$30.00 with performance-based incentives. Requires High School Diploma, BLS certification, and one of several medical assistant certifications or equivalent nursing credentials. Located across the San Francisco Bay Area at UCSF Health-GoHealth Urgent Care centers.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification obtained through the American Red Cross (ARC) or American Heart Association (AHA)
- One of the following certifications: CCMA, CMA, RMA, NCMA, or NRCMA (must obtain within 15 months of hire)
- Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing or LPN or RN (in lieu of approved MA Certification)
- EMT certification verified through the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (in lieu of approved MA Certification)
- CNA certification (in lieu of approved MA Certification)
- Graduate of MA school (for California MA's)
- Ability to type quickly
- Basic computer knowledge
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Detail oriented mindset
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to interact and treat all persons with fairness, respect and sensitivity to cultural/social difference

- Medical Assisting Program graduation (preferred)
