Job Summary
Obtain and document patient vital signs, reason for visit, and medication reviews using the electronic medical record. Perform clinical duties including setting up examination rooms, conducting EKGs, wound dressings, and assisting during minor surgical procedures. Collect laboratory specimens, perform phlebotomy, and prepare medications per policy after competency validation. Complete administrative tasks such as patient scheduling, filing reports, collecting co-payments, and managing referrals. Maintain infection prevention protocols by sterilizing instruments and inspecting diagnostic equipment. Work a 40-hour day in an outpatient clinic setting. CMA or RMA certification required with NHA, AMT, AAMA, NAHP, NCCT, AAH, or AMCA certification.
Required Qualifications
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA)
- Registered Medical Assist (RMA)
- Certified by one of the listed governing associations: NHA, AMT, AAMA, NAHP, NCCT, AAH, or AMCA
- High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED)
- Basic Life Support Certification within 6 months
Desired Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited 1-year certificate or 2-year diploma Medical Assistant program
- Minimum of 1 year Related work experience
