Job Summary
Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) in the MUSC Community Physicians’ outpatient setting performs multi-skilled patient-care activities under a physician’s direction. Responsibilities include interviewing patients, measuring vital signs, preparing treatment rooms for examination, and documenting information in the medical record. Requires basic computer skills, ability to follow detailed instructions for therapeutic procedures, and effective verbal and written communication. Licensure/certification requirements include CMA/CCMA/NHA/NAHP from recognized bodies and current BLS CPR; annual competencies must be maintained. Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of accredited medical assisting program
- Certification through AMT or AAMA or NHA or NAHP as CCMA or CMA or NAHP
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from AHA or Red Cross
