Job Summary
Prepare examination rooms, assist with patient check-ins, and document vital signs, medical history, and chief complaints. Perform diagnostic procedures, administer medications and immunizations, and conduct venipuncture and IV access after required training. Operate medical equipment including EKG machines and infusion pumps, while completing lab and x-ray requisitions. Enter demographic data and diagnosis into electronic health records, coordinate referrals and appointments, and monitor patients for acute distress. Support clinical teams in outpatient clinics, inpatient care, and procedural settings by performing wound care, dressing changes, and specimen handling. Maintain clinic organization, supply inventory, and infection control standards while ensuring patient privacy and safety.
Required Qualifications
- Certificate
- Graduate from a medical assistant training program accredited by Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) of the American Medical Technologists or a formal medical services training program of the United States Armed Forces
- One year of experience within the last two years as a CMA
- Current certification as a medical assistant by the American Association of Medical Assistants
- Current registration by the American Medical Technologists
- Other formal program certification
- Ability to pass a Government background check/security clearance
- Current AHA OR ARC BLS Healthcare Provider certification
- Monday - Friday 0600-1800 - 8.5 hour shifts
- No Holidays or Weekends
Desired Qualifications
- Surgical specialty, procedural, or hospital-based experience preferred
- ENT, Plastic Surgery and/or maxillofacial surgery experience preferred
- Experience supporting providers in outpatient clinic settings
- Exposure to impatient or procedural environments preferred
- Familiarity with patient intake, rooming, vital signs, and basic clinical documentation
- Clinical & Technical Skills: Ability to perform clinical tasks within scope of training and institutional policy, including vital signs, room preparation, wound care assistance, specimen handling, and patient preparation for procedures
- Knowledge of infection control practices, sterile technique basics, and patient safety standards
- Proficiency with electronic health records (EHR), scheduling systems, and basic clinical documentation workflows
- Administrative & Coordination Skills: Ability to assist with scheduling, referrals, imaging, laboratory coordination, and follow-up appointments
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in a fast-paced clinical environment
- Ability to support clinic flow, patient throughput, and operational efficiency
- Professional & Interpersonal Skills: Strong communication skills and ability to interact professionally with patients, families, providers, and multidisciplinary team members
- Ability to function effectively as part of a team and take direction from licensed providers
- Commitment to patient-centered care, confidentiality, and professionalism
- Compliance & Physical Requirements: Ability to comply with institutional policies, HIPAA regulations, and infection prevention standards
- Ability to perform job duties requiring standing, walking, lifting, and assisting patients as needed
