Job Summary
Certified Medical Assistant provides patient care under supervision of a medical provider and supports both clinical and administrative clinic operations. Responsibilities include assisting with clinical procedures (taking vital signs, injections, phlebotomy, vaccines, EKGs, wound care, suture removal), maintaining exam rooms, handling patient intake and triage, processing test results and documentation, scheduling and coordinating referrals, verifying insurance eligibility, and maintaining supplies. Requires CMA-AAMA or NCMA-NCTT certification and BCLS, plus 0-1 years of experience or externship, with proficiency in medical records systems and basic computer tools and strong interpersonal, organizational, and patient-service skills.
Required Qualifications
- 0-1 years of experience in a medical practice setting or completion of externship program
- CMA-AAMA certification or NCMA-NCTT certification
- Basic Life Support (BCLS) certification from AHA/ARC/ASHI
- Knowledge of medical office procedures and patient care techniques
- Proficiency in medical record systems and basic computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Office, Google Suite)
- Understanding of medical terminology and infection control practices
- Strong interpersonal and time-management skills for fast-paced environment
- Ability to perform care according to age-specific competencies
