Job Summary

Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) — Urgent Care at Mercy Health in Lebanon and Maineville, OH. The CMA provides indirect and/or direct patient care under the provider, including vitals (respirations, blood pressure, pulse oximetry, height, weight, temperature), documents patient needs, participates in planning and implementing care, administers prescribed medications, and travels to other facilities as needed. Requires High School/ GED and completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program (SC exceptions noted), active MA certification (CMA/RMA/CCMA/NCMA/NCCT/NRCMA as listed), and BLS certification. Prior externship/clinical training and 1 year MA experience preferred. Strong communication, medical terminology, multitasking, and ability to work in a high-volume environment are essential. Duties also include charting in medical records, preparing examinations, obtaining samples for testing, patient education, and routine office tasks. Required Qualifications

  • Active Medical Assisting certification from one of the following (required): Certified Medical Assistant (CMA); American Association of Medical Assisting Registered Medical Assistant (RMA); American Medical Technologists Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA); National Healthcareer Association (NHA) Nationally Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA); National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) (not accepted in the state of South Carolina) Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant (NRCMA); National Association for Health Professionals (not accepted in the state of South Carolina)
  • BLS Basic Life Support, American Heart Association (required at hire for Roper St Francis Healthcare locations; preferred at hire, required prior to independent patient care at BSMH)
  • Education: High School/GED (required) Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant post-secondary education program (preferred in all states except South Carolina)
  • Completion of externship or clinical lab training (preferred)
  • 1 year of recent Medical Assisting experience (preferred)
  • Education: In South Carolina (completion of one of the below is required) An accredited Medical assistant post-secondary education program A Career and technical education health sciences program approved by the South Carolina Department of Education A medical assisting program provided by a branch of the United States military A Medical assisting United States Department of Labor approved Registered Apprenticeship program A Training program that is delivered, in whole or or in part, by a health care employer that aligns to a nationally accredited certification exam
