Certified Medical Assistant (CMA/RMA) - Emergency Department CFH

ED CMA/MA performs routine patient care support in the Emergency Department to assist medical/nursing staff in examination and treatment of patients, maintain equipment/supplies, and provide patient care under supervision. Responsibilities include rooming patients with chief complaint info, vital signs, and medication reconciliation; providing patient education; calling in non-narcotic prescriptions; accepting orders per provider authentication; completing forms (FMLA, DOT, IPPE, AWV); performing venipuncture and CLIA-waived lab testing; providing simple wound care and wound irrigation with saline; serving as procedural consent witness and completing time-out forms; cleaning and maintaining instruments; obtaining fetal heart tones; applying slings/splints; suturing wounds under supervision; administering medications per provider order; distributing educational materials; assisting with patient throughput, rooming, transfers, and discharge; obtaining vital signs and data for visits; assisting during procedures; performing ECGs, ear irrigations, vision screenings, dressing changes, wound care, splint application, point-of-care testing, and specimen collection; assisting with staff training and onboarding.
