Job Summary
Review and update health records, verify diagnostic test results and hospital reports, and prepare treatment rooms for upcoming examinations. Greet patients and the community respectfully while measuring vital signs such as pulse, respiration, blood pressure, weight, and height. Perform clerical duties including checking inventory, tracking referrals, answering phones, and troubleshooting problems promptly. This Certified Medical Assistant role supports the Internal Medicine Residency OP Clinic team at Mercy Health, a faith-based organization committed to enhancing community well-being through compassion and collaboration.
Required Qualifications
- High School Degree or GED
- Medical Assisting certification from one of the following: Certified Medical Assistant (CMA); American Association of Medical Assisting, Registered Medical Assistant (RMA); American Medical Technologists, Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA); National Healthcareer Association (NHA); Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant (NRCMA); National Association for Health Professionals, National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA); National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT)
- BLS Basic Life Support, American Heart Association (required at hire for Roper St Francis Healthcare locations; preferred at hire, required prior to independent patient care at BSMH)
Desired Qualifications
- One year of medical assistant healthcare experience
- Two years of clerical experience in a physician's office
- Possesses problem-solving skills
- Basic computer skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
