Job Summary
Greet patients respectfully and provide excellent customer service in the Occupational Health Services setting. Review and update health records by verifying diagnostic test results, hospital reports, and other medical documents for upcoming visits. Measure vital signs including pulse rate, respiration, blood pressure, weight, and height. Perform clerical duties such as checking inventory, stocking supplies, tracking referrals, and answering phones. Troubleshoot and resolve problems promptly as needed. This role supports the primary care physician team in delivering community-focused care aligned with Mercy Health's values of compassion and stewardship.
Required Qualifications
- High School Degree or GED
- Active Medical Assisting certification from one of the following: Certified Medical Assistant (CMA); American Association of Medical Assisting, Registered Medical Assistant (RMA); American Medical Technologists, Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA); National Healthcareer Association (NHA); Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant (NRCMA); National Association for Health Professionals, National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA); National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT)
- BLS Basic Life Support, American Heart Association (required at hire for Roper St Francis Healthcare locations; preferred at hire, required prior to independent patient care at BSMH)
Desired Qualifications
- One year of medical assistant healthcare experience
- Two years of clerical experience in a physician's office
- Possesses problem-solving skills
- Basic computer skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve problems promptly
