Job Summary

The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) provides clinical and administrative support across hospital, private practice, and clinic settings. Responsibilities include taking patient histories and vital signs, preparing patients for examinations, assisting physicians during exams and procedures, collecting and processing laboratory specimens, administering medications, performing basic lab tests, instructing patients on medications and diets, wound care (removing sutures and changing dressings), scheduling appointments, managing calendars, maintaining patient records, coordinating referrals and follow-up care, ensuring regulatory compliance, and delivering empathetic, patient-centered care.
