Job Summary
Prepare examination rooms and assist with patient check-ins, admissions, discharges, and transfers. Check vital signs including temperature, respiration, pulse, weight, blood pressure, and pulse oximeter readings. Obtain and document medical history, drug history, chief complaints, allergies, and vital signs. Perform diagnostic procedures when ordered and maintain examination room stock levels. Complete lab and x-ray requisitions and enter demographic data, diagnoses, and departure times into the computer system. Work Monday through Friday from 7:30 am to 4:30 pm at the Naval Medical Center San Diego.
Required Qualifications
- Certificate
- Graduate from a medical assistant training program accredited by Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) of the American Medical Technologists
- Current certification as a medical assistant by the American Association of Medical Assistants
- Current registration by the American Medical Technologists
- other formal program
- Possess a minimum of six months of experience as a Medical Assistant after graduation
Desired Qualifications
- be a certified by the National Healthcareer Association (NHA)
- a formal medical services training program of the United States Armed Forces
