Job Summary
Conduct examination and treatment assistance for patients under physician direction, including preparing patients for visits and performing specific procedures. Measure vital signs, record chart information, and collect laboratory specimens for testing. Manage patient communications by handling phone calls, prescription refills, referrals, and prior authorizations. Explain treatment procedures, medications, and dietary instructions to patients. Prepare and maintain treatment room cleanliness. Support business operations through clerical tasks, medical records management, and patient scheduling.
Required Qualifications
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification from the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross
- Test and pass the National Certification exam (AAMA, NHA, NCCT, AMT, NAHP) to be certified as Medical Assistant
Desired Qualifications
- Graduated from a Medical Assistant program, accredited by the Commission on accreditation of Allied Health Education Program
- 1-2 years' experience in a clinical setting
