Job Summary
Medical Assistant responsibilities include performing medical intake procedures (vital signs and history), conducting complete patient evaluations, documenting symptoms and treatment changes, administering immunizations as directed, and performing phlebotomy with proper precautions. Additional front desk duties include greeting patients, collecting and posting payments (co-pays/deductibles), verifying insurance eligibility, scheduling appointments, and ensuring follow-up for documentation. Phlebotomy tasks include venipuncture and fingerstick with proper patient identification and specimen handling. This role supports CAN Community Health’s mission and requires professionalism, confidentiality, and adherence to safety protocols; bilingual ability is a plus.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred
- Certification (CMA, RMA, CCMA) is required or ability to achieve certification within 6 months of hire
- CPR certification required
- 1+ years of experience in a clinical setting preferred
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus
- Must be able to operate a motor vehicle and have valid insurance and driver’s license
- Must be able to pass a Level I and Level II Background check as required
