Job Summary

Greet patients and the community respectfully while providing excellent customer service. Review and update health records, verifying diagnostic test results, hospital reports, and other medical documents are current. Measure vital signs including pulse, respiration, blood pressure, weight, and height. Prepare treatment rooms for upcoming examinations and perform clerical duties such as inventory checks, supply stocking, referral tracking, and phone answering. Troubleshoot and resolve problems promptly as needed. This role supports the primary care physician team within the Psychiatry - MHP Cincinnati department at the Jewish Hospital Medical Office Building.

Required Qualifications

  • Active Medical Assisting certification from one of the following: Certified Medical Assistant (CMA); American Association of Medical Assisting, Registered Medical Assistant (RMA); American Medical Technologists, Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA); National Healthcareer Association (NHA); Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant (RNCMA); National Association for Health Professionals, National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA); National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT)
  • High School Degree or GED
  • BLS Basic Life Support
  • One year of medical assistant healthcare experience
  • Two years of clerical experience in a physician's office
  • Possesses problem-solving skills
  • Basic computer skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Desired Qualifications

  • If incumbent is unable to obtain MA certification, an Assessment-Based Recognition in Order Entry (ABR-OE) is acceptable (not accepted in the state of South Carolina)
  • BLS Basic Life Support, American Heart Association (preferred at hire, required prior to independent patient care at BSMH)
  • Experience: One year of medical assistant healthcare experience (preferred, not required)
  • Two years of clerical experience in a physician's office (preferred, not required)
