Job Summary
Conduct patient assessments, interview patients regarding health problems and medication history, and take vital signs including blood pressure, temperature, and weight. Administer medication under physician direction, provide basic wound care, perform laboratory tests, and assist providers during examinations and procedures. Schedule patient appointments, maintain medical supply inventory, and manage communications via phone and email. Work alongside correctional officers in a secure environment to deliver care to individuals with complex medical needs, mental health, or substance abuse issues.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED Certificate
- Current Certification as Certified Medical Assistant in AZ
- Able to maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information
- Must possess an active BLS CPR Certification
- Ability to interact effectively with patients from diverse backgrounds, including those with mental health or substance abuse issues
- Must have the ability to maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information and integrity, professionalism and ability to adhere to a Code of Conduct and comply with all facility(s) correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements
- Must pass the facility's criminal background check and drug screening
- Must have the ability to stand for long periods
- Must have the ability to lift and move patients (up to 50 pounds)
- Must have the ability to bend, squat, reach, push, pull, walk significant distances, and perform physically demanding tasks like CPR, all while maintaining good balance and endurance throughout a shift
