Job Summary
Certified Medical Assistant role providing direct patient care and clinical support in an outpatient clinic within Baptist Health Medical Group. Responsibilities include obtaining vital signs, reconciling medications, collecting patient history, facilitating patient flow, managing the EPIC EHR, scheduling appointments, processing medication requests, handling prior authorizations, and coordinating tests/procedures. Upon clinical competency, may perform EKGs, lab tests, injections or phlebotomy. Strong communication and organizational skills are essential to support providers. Role requires regular on-site presence. Eligible for a $2000 sign-on bonus.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- 1+ year(s) of experience as a Medical Assistant in a medical office/clinic or similar setting with direct patient care (vital signs, history, medications, clinical procedures such as EKGs, phlebotomy, injections)
- Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant training program with hands-on patient experience
- Completion of MA orientation and clinical competency assessment upon hire
- Basic computer skills; EMR experience a plus
- Basic Life Support from the American Heart Association within 90 days of hire
- BAT and DOT certifications required for Medical Assistants in Occupational Medicine within 90 days of hire
- Preferred: Current MA Certification from AAMA/AMT/NAHP/NCCT/AAMP or LPN/RN with current unrestricted licensure
- Ability to perform EKGs, lab tests, injections, phlebotomy as needed
