Job Summary
Certified Medical Assistant provides clinical intake, administers medications, supports office operations, and ensures patient care during office visits. Responsibilities include preparing patients and equipment, initiating testing, documenting results, maintaining OSHA compliance, managing inventory, assisting with minor procedures, educating patients on tests and medications, maintaining patient confidentiality, supporting staff, and performing clinical intake (including screenings, history taking, vital signs, and medication reconciliation). Requires knowledge of healthcare terminology, chronic disease management, resource utilization, patient advocacy, and strong English communication; computer literacy is required. Licensure/certification requirements include BLS and CMA/CMAC/RMA/NCMA/CCMA/NRCMA as listed; 1+ year experience preferred.
Required Qualifications
- Basic Life Support - CPR Cert (BLS)
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) OR Clinical Medical Assistant Certification (CMAC) OR Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) OR National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) OR Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) OR Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant (NRCMA)
- Knowledge of health care field and medical terminology
- Knowledge of chronic disease management
- Knowledge of and ability to utilize internal and external resources
- Expertise in patient advocacy and navigating complex systems
- Ability to function and assist others in stressful, fast-paced environments and effectively apply stress management techniques
- Ability to resolve issues and work independently within the scope of their certification
- Ability to exercise sound judgement, diplomacy and a professional demeanor
- Demonstrates ability to communicate by reading, writing and typing legibly, speaking and comprehending English effectively to carry out job requirements
- Experience with computers required
- High School Grad or Equiv
- 1+ year of related work experience (Preferred)
