Job Summary
Assist patients calling and visiting the clinic by escorting them to exam areas, obtaining vital signs, and documenting in the Electronic Health Record. Collect laboratory specimens, make referral appointments, and maintain daily worklists. Under clinician direction, initiate care plans, administer medications and immunizations, and enter orders into the medical record. Follow infection control guidelines, sterilize instruments, and perform equipment control tests. Prepare exam rooms, stock supplies, and enter patient data into tracking systems. Maintain professional growth through training and participate in continuous quality improvement activities. Treat clients and staff with respect while resolving conflicts using effective communication skills.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Completion of a Medical Assistant Training Program
- Medical Assistant Certification
- Current CPR certification
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and push up to 100 pounds (on wheels)
- Able to work on feet the majority of the day without tiring
- Must be able to hear adequately to auscultate B/S
- Must have vision which is adequate to read increments on tuberculin syringe accurately
- Must be able to reach above shoulder level to work
- Must be able to bend, squat and sit, stand, stoop, crouch, reach, kneel, twist/turn
- Must have neat and legible handwriting
- Must be able to interact with patients courteously and calmly
- Ability to communicate well with the public
Desired Qualifications
- Familiarity with primary care outpatient clinic procedure
