Job Summary
Inspect, diagnose, and repair mechanical defects in fuel, electrical, transmission, steering, braking, and hydraulic systems while maintaining a safe, clean, and organized shop environment. Keep complete records for equipment inventory, repair costs, and preventative maintenance programs, and manage fuel, oil, and parts inventories within budget. Train staff on equipment operations and safety procedures, communicate effectively with administrators and personnel to ensure equipment availability, and provide functional supervision to ensure adherence to standard operating procedures. Comply with OSHA regulations and work independently during normal hours and on-call rotations, prioritizing tasks to meet deadlines and maintain high productivity.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Must be able to perform at a journeyman level in his/her field
- ASE certified Auto Technician
- Class B CDL license or be able to obtain
- Possess a valid Iowa Drivers' license
- Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
- Must be able to lift and/or move up to 90 lbs. with assistance
- Close vision
- Color vision
- Peripheral vision
- Depth perception
- Ability to adjust focus
- Must be able to meet deadlines with severe time constraints
- District facilities and grounds are to be drug, alcohol and tobacco free zones
Desired Qualifications
- 4-5 years of automotive or diesel experience
- Class B CDL license preferred
