Job Summary
Certified Lumber Grader inspects and evaluates lumber per WWPA standards and customer expectations, collaborates with WWPA inspectors and set-up personnel to resolve quality issues, maintains a production pace, and ensures graded lumber meets quality standards for marketability. Responsibilities include following safety protocols, performing thorough inspections of lumber for quality, size, and defects, coordinating with mill staff on quality issues, notifying Head Grader or Dry End Quality Manager about moisture content or quality concerns, and applying knowledge of species, lumber grades, length and width. Requires ability to read a tape measure, calipers, and moisture meter, and to pass required pre-employment screenings; physical demands include standing, bending, lifting, and exposure to production environments. Location: Lewiston, ID; on-site work environment at Idaho Forest Group.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Lumber Grader Certification
- 1+ year(s) of experience in lumber manufacturing
- Skills: Must know species, lumber grades, length and width
- Ability to read a tape measure, calipers, and moisture meter
- Ability to read and understand printed materials
- Ability to pass a hair follicle drug test, post-offer pre-employment physical, and background check
- High school diploma or GED.
