Certified Lactation Consultant - Registered Nurse

Help breastfeeding women and families define and achieve their breastfeeding goals through education and counseling. Establish priorities based on individual needs of mothers, infants, children, and families, then develop a personalized plan of care with expected outcomes and follow-up evaluations. Respect unique cultural and ethnic attitudes regarding breastfeeding while demonstrating competency in lactation consultation practice. Collaborate with other health care disciplines to coordinate patient care and discharge plans, maintaining effective communication with staff, physicians, clients, and families within the unit and across departments.
