Job Summary
Maintain a healthy, safe environment by assisting clients with personal hygiene, toileting, dressing, walking, and feeding. Position clients as instructed and provide treatments, therapy, and medication reminders per the Care Plan. Run authorized errands, assist with bill payments when documented, and use medical supplies appropriately. Document daily on the Aide Charting Sheet and report condition changes to the nursing supervisor. Provide emotional support, encourage client independence, and maintain a trusting relationship. Maintain compliance with agency policies, state regulations, and in-service education requirements. Wear an identification badge and exhibit empathy for sick and disabled individuals.
Required Qualifications
- Must be eighteen (18) years of age or older
- Must have a certificate from a Home Health Aide training program consistent with State requirements
- Must have evidence of ongoing in-service education to maintain the certificate
- Must have the maturity necessary for establishing and maintaining a good work relationship with the client, the client's family and agency personnel
- Must have a sincere interest in and a sympathetic attitude towards caring for the sick and disabled
- Must be able to lift, turn and transfer clients
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
- Must be able to stoop and bend
- Visual/ hearing ability sufficient to comprehend written and verbal communication
- Able to verbalize so that the average person can understand
- Must maintain compliance with all agency policies and procedures
- Must maintain in-service requirements as specified in State and agency regulations
- Must be neatly dressed and have good personal hygiene habits
- Must maintain good health habits with regular physical and dental exams
- Must wear an identification badge while working
