Job Summary
Provide direct patient care during hemodialysis treatments, monitor vital signs, and report condition changes to a licensed nurse. Prepare and maintain dialysis machines, ensure proper sterilization, troubleshoot technical issues, and assist with cannulation and medication administration. Maintain a clean, sanitary environment adhering to infection control protocols while educating patients on post-dialysis care and healthy lifestyle choices. Respond quickly to emergency situations and accurately record patient information in medical records. Maintain patient privacy and communicate effectively with patients, healthcare staff, and correctional officers. Requires Certified Clinical Hemodialysis Technician certification, BLS CPR, and ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Required Qualifications
- Certified Clinical Hemodialysis Technician (CCHT) or equivalent, or the ability to obtain certification within a specified timeframe
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Active BLS CPR Certification (AHA required)
- Ability to interact effectively with patients from diverse backgrounds, including those with mental health or substance abuse issues
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information and integrity, professionalism and ability to adhere to a Code of Conduct and comply with all facility(s) correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements
- Must pass the facility's criminal background check and drug screening
- Ability to stand for long periods
- Ability to lift and move patients (up to 50 pounds)
- Ability to bend, squat, reach, push, pull, walk significant distances, and perform physically demanding tasks like CPR, all while maintaining good balance and endurance throughout a shift
