Job Summary
Respond to emergency calls for fire suppression, medical assistance, hazardous materials incidents, and natural disasters by following dispatcher instructions and coordinating with related agencies. Suppress fires, perform search and rescue, extricate victims, and conduct forcible entries while providing emergency medical care including CPR, airway maintenance, and patient transport. Maintain readiness by checking equipment stock, reloading apparatus, and performing general maintenance on vehicles, buildings, and tools. Process documentation such as incident reports, daily logs, and inventory counts while communicating with supervisors, law enforcement, and medical professionals. Maintain current knowledge of regulations and participate in fire prevention education, training drills, and community events.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- One (1) year of experience in firefighting, emergency medical response, or closely related field
- Any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job
- Valid South Carolina Class E Driver's License
- Firefighter II certification
- Emergency Medical Technician certification
Desired Qualifications
- Additional certifications, as deemed necessary by the Fire Chief
