Job Summary
Conduct expanded dental duties including placing sealants, temporary restorations, and crowns, while managing restorative functions such as matrix bands and instrument sterilization. Coordinate four-handed techniques with the dentist, maintain inventory, and operate Eaglesoft software for patient records. Perform operational setup, clean environmental surfaces, and manage biomedical waste in compliance with Florida Board of Dentistry standards. Assist students and lead outreach programs at health fairs and school-based initiatives. Confirm appointments, process paperwork, and respond to medical emergencies using CPR and emergency protocols.
Required Qualifications
- Certified dental assistant degree from the State of Florida
- Valid Florida Driver's License
- Florida Radiology certificate
- Expanded duty certificate
- Active CPR card
- Working knowledge of standard dental procedures, techniques and material used in the dental clinic
- Working knowledge of OSHA standards, dental infection control and hazardous dental materials
- Positive, helpful attitude toward dental director, dentist, students, other staff, patients and their families
- Ability to treat patients with various conditions, including but not limited to chronic health conditions such as diabetes, hypertension and heart disease, and intellectual and developmental disabilities
- Ability to work in a neat and organized manner
- Ability to follow directions given by dental supervisors
- Ability to prioritize and organize job duties
- Ability to work well with others, including completing necessary work
- Ability to work in a busy clinic
- Ability to work independently and interdependently
- Ability to work with, including teaching and demonstrating, students as directed by the dentist
- Ability to explain directions and answer appropriate questions clearly and concisely
- Ability to greet patients, process paperwork, and enter information into the Eaglesoft electronic oral health record
- Ability to be alert to the activities of the clinic and patient care
- Must be able to lift at least 10 pounds
