Job Summary
Prepare patients for oral surgery by reviewing medical histories and confirming documentation, then assist surgeons throughout procedures while maintaining sterile technique and anticipating needs. Monitor vital signs, record encounters, and provide postoperative education and care. Set up and break down operatories, sterilize instruments, and ensure all supplies are functional. Adhere to OSHA, HIPAA, and infection control standards while participating in monthly safety checks for crash carts, fire extinguishers, and equipment calibrations. Maintain accurate controlled substance logs and inventory. Work Monday through Thursday in 8-hour shifts, with a 6-hour Friday shift and one Saturday per month.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Certified Surgical Assistant (CSA) credential
- equivalent surgical assisting certification
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Previous experience in oral surgery or dental surgical assisting
- Advanced knowledge of oral surgery procedures
